Making Art with Photons
I started photography back in the 90’s, shooting slide film to hone my skills. Today I pursue fine art photography in a variety of genres, with a focus on natural and urban landscape, astrophotography, and floral macro and close-up.
Photography is the window into the world from my artistic vantage point – the sights, vibrance and spirit of urban life, the familiar farmscape of southern Ontario, the vast and powerful Great Lakes, and captivating landscapes and seascapes in Canada and everywhere. Through macro and close-up photography, I explore details and perspectives of flora specimens that the typical viewers often gloss over. And in astrophotography, I capture awe-inspiring astronomical objects and phenomena that reveal themselves, some of them invisible to the unaided eyes, in the tranquility of the night, and turn them into art.
As a lifelong science lover, I also strive to bring science to the general public through astrophotography. With the total solar eclipse, northern lights, and comet in 2024, interest in astronomy is at an all-time high. Introducing the wonders of the universe and the beauty of the night sky through exhibitions, and talks in astronomy and photography clubs, bring me tremendous satisfaction.
